Tip 44. Activity is not the same as exercise.

Are you active? Do you exercise? Exercise is s u perior for h e alth to mere activity. While both activity and exercise are important as they are involved in vi t al physical mov e ment, t hey vary in degree and benefits. Bo t h activity and exercise em ploy the b ody in voluntary m o v e ment.

Activity uses the body to a limited d e gree and gener a lly to achieve a specific purp o se. Exercise employs the body over t he widest p ossible ran g e of mov e ment for the p articular pu r pose of maintaining or acquiring muscle tone and control w i th max i m u m joint flexibility. Activity requires less physic a l effort and o ften less c o nscious eff o rt once the r outine has b een established. Exercise demands considerable physical ef f o rt a nd is more beneficial a s mental

concentrati o n is simulta n eously employed.

Tip 45. Alkalise.

The body requires a lar g e alkaline r e serve for its daily activity. The many emergencies of acid formation through the day from wr o ng foods, fa t igue, mental stress and lack of sleep can be

met by the c ompetency of the alkaline reserves. Boosting t h e normal body reserve o f alkali by liberal use o f alkali-forming foods is essential for those suffe r ing from allergies.

The foods which should be excluded from the diet are tea, co f fee, chocol a te, cola dri n ks,

alcohol, su g ar, sweets a nd foods c o ntaining su g ar, refined cereals, meats, fish, chicken,

tobacco, milk, cheese, b utter, smoked, salted, pickled foo d s and foods containing a n y chemical additives, p r eservatives and flavouring. These f o ods cause e ither toxic a ccumulatio n s or

over-stimulation of adre n al glands or strain on p a ncreatic e n zymes prod u ction or dis t urb the blood sugar balance.

Tip 46. A n y cure begins w ith det o xification.

To heal dis e ase, first r e move t o xins.

The first and most basic principle of nature cure is that all fo rm s of dise a se are due t o the same cause, namely, the accumulations of waste materials and b odily refuse in the syst e m. These waste materials in t h e h ealthy individual are r e moved fr o m the system through the organs of elimination.

In the dise a sed person, toxins are s t eadily piling up in the b o dy through years of faul t y habits of living. These bad habits are such as wrong f eeding, improper care of the body and habits contributing to enervation and nervous exhaustion such as worry, o v erwork and excesses of all kinds.

It follows fr o m this basic principle th a t the only way to cure disease is to employ me t hods which will enable t he system to throw off these toxic a ccumulatio n s. All natural treatments are

actually dir e cted towards this end.

Tip 47. As noted before, to heal d i sease, first remove toxins. If y ou do not, y our bo d y w i ll.

Your body a pplies this p rinciple by creating "symptoms." This second basic principle o f nature cure is that all acute d iseases s u ch as fevers, colds, inflammation, digestive distur b ances and

skin erupti o ns are nothing more than self-ini t ia t ed efforts on the part of t he body to throw off the accumulat e d waste materials.

All chronic d iseases such as heart disease, dia b etes, rheumatism, ast h ma, kidney disorders, arethe results of contin u ed suppression of the acute diseas e s through h a rmful meth o ds such
