Tip 31. To a void gout, avoid meat.

 

Gout was at one time considered the disease of t he rich, wh e n in the West only the rich ate meat.

 

The gout p a tient should avoid all purine and uric acid producing foods s u ch as all meats, eggs, and fish. Glandular meats are especially harmful.

 

The one who has gout should also av oid all intoxicating liqu o rs, tea, coff e e, sugar, white flour

and its pro d ucts and all canned and processed f oods. Spic e s and sal t s should be used as lit t l e as possible.

 

 

 

Tip 32. Meditate!

 

Meditation involves training the mind to remain fixed on a certain external or internal location.

 

All the mental faculties should be di r ected, with o ut cessa t io n , towards the object of meditation.

It can be ach i eved by co n s tant pract i ce. It will be a dvisable to meditate on God or Atman as one

becomes imbued with the quality of the object on which one meditates.

 

Meditation will help cr e ate an amount of balance in the nervous system. This would enable the glands to re t urn to a cor r ect state of hormonal balance and t h ereby over c ome the feeling of depression. Regularity of time, place and practice are very i mportant in meditation. Regularity

of practice conditions t h e mind to slowing down its activiti e s . The most effective times for meditation are early dawn and dusk, when the atmosphere is serene and peaceful.

 

 

 

Tip 33. No drugs cure high blood pressure.

All drugs a g ainst hypertension with o ut exception, are toxic and have distressing side effects. The safest way to cure hypertension is to remove the real cause. The n atural way of dealing

with it is to e liminate the poisons fr o m the system which cause it. Perso n s with high b lood

pressure s h ould always follow a well-balanced r o utine of pro p er diet, exercise and r e st.

 

Diet is of primary i mpor t ance. Meat and eggs c a use the blo o d pressure t o rise more than any other food. The pressure is lowered and blood clot ti ng diminis h ed by partaking of a higher fruit content, lower protein a n d non-flesh diet. A natural diet co n s isting of fresh fruits and vegetables, instead of a traditional diet, is helpf u l in getting rid of the poisons from the body. A hypertension patient s h ould start t h e process of healing by living on an exclusive fruit-diet for at least a w eek, and take fruits at fi v e-hourly intervals thrice in the day. Oranges, apples, pears, mangoes, guava, pineapples, rasp b erry, water-melon are the best diet in such c a s e s. Bananas and jack fr ui t should not be taken.
