Tip 27. H y d rocele, The Common But Little-Kno w n Condition of Men's Mature Years

Hydrocele is the painful swelling of t he testes. It can be painlessly relieved.

Tapping (r e moving fluid with a long needle)   is t he method usually resor t ed to for removal of the fluid in hy drocele. This, however, does not r e move the c a use of the t r ouble but o n ly its

effects. The correct way in which the condition c a n be really dealt with successfully is t hrough constitu t io n al treatment. Such a treatment should aim at removing the underlying toxicity of the system wh ic h is at the root of the trouble.

The sufferer from hydro c ele should b egin with an exclusive fresh fruit diet for seven to ten days. In this regi m en, he should have three meals a day of fresh juicy fruits, such as apples, pears, grapes, gr a pe-fruit, or a nges, pine a pple, peac h es, melon or any other juicy fruit in s e ason but no bananas or dried, stew e d or tinned f ruit, and no other foods t uff whatever. For drinks, lemon water unsweetened or water either hot or cold may be tak e n.

If constipa t ion is habit u al, all s t eps should be t a ken for its e r adication. D uring this p e riod the bowels sho u ld be clea n sed daily with a warm wa t er enema.

Tip 28. Ind i gestion may be caus e d b y how y ou neat, not just w hat y ou eat.

The feelings of discomf o rt and distr e ss in the a b domen are often caus e d by overea t ing, eating too rapidly or not chewi n g properly. Overeating or eating fr e quently produces a feverish state in

the system and overtaxes the digestive organs. It produces excessive acid and ca u s es the gastric mucus membra n e to become congested. Hyperacidity is usually the result.

Overeating makes the work of st om ach, liver, kidneys and bowels ha r der. When this food putrefies, i t s poisons are absorbed b ack into the blood and consequently, the whole system is poisoned. Many people gulp their f o od due to st r ess or hurry. When food is swallow e d in large chunks, the stomach has to work h a rder and more hydrochloride is s e cr e ted.

Eating too f ast also ca u s es one to swallow air. These bad h a bits force s o me of the digestive fluids in t o t h e oesopha g us, causing burning, a s t inging se ns ation or a s o ur taste, giving an illus i on of s t omach acid.

Tip 29. Infl u enza is more than a viral infection.

Influenza, like all other a c ute dise as es, is a nat u ral attempt at self-cle a nsing and if ri g htly

treated in a natural way, immense g ood can ensue so far as the future h ealth of the patient is

concerned. I n the acute stage of influenza, a pa t ient should abstain from all solid fo o ds and only drink fruit a n d vegetable juices d ilut e d with water, 50- 50 for f irst three to f ive days, depending on the severity of the disease. The j u ice fast sh o uld be continued until t h e temperature comes down to normal. The warm water e n ema should be taken daily during this period to cleanse the bowels.

After fever subsides the patient may adopt an all - fruit diet for t wo or three days. In this regimen, the patient should take t hree meals a day of fresh juicy fruits such as ap p les, pears, g rapes, oranges, pi n eapple, pe a ches and melons at fiv e -hourly intervals. Bananas or dried, stewed or tinned fruits however, should not be t aken. No other food stu f f should be added to the fruit meals, otherwise the value of the tr e atment will be lost. Th i s may be followed by a further two or three days on fruits and milk diet. T h ereafter, the patient may adopt a well-balanced d iet of three basic food g roups namely, (i) seeds, nuts and gr a ins, (ii) veg e tables, and ( iii) frui t s. Spices and condiments, and pickles, which make food more palatal and lead to overeating, must be av o ided. Lemon juice may be used in s a lad dressin g . Alcohol, t o bacco, stro n g tea and coffee, highly seasoned meats, over-boiled milk, pulses,
