Tip 21. Control and channel sexual desire w i th the neutral hipbath.

The quenching of unrequited sexual desire is accomplished through the neutral hip b ath.

The neutral hipbath hel p s to relieve all acute a n d sub-acute inflammatory conditions such as acute catar r h of the bla d der and urethra and su b -acute infl a mmations in the uterus, ovaries andtubes. It also reliev e s neuralgia of the fallopian tubes or t esticl e s, painful spasms of the

vagina and prorates of t he anus and vulva. Besides, it is a sedative treatment for erotomania in both sexes.

The temperature of the water should be 32º C to 36º C. Here too, fricti o n to the ab d omen should be avoided. This bath is generally taken for 20 minutes to an hour.

Tip 22. Remove morbid matter from the surface of the skin w ith the hot steam bath.

The steam bath is helpf u l in all forms of chron i c t oxaemias. It relieves rheumatism, gout, uric acid probl em s, and obesity. It also r elieves neuralgias, chr o nic nephritis, infectio n s , tetanus

and migraine.

Steam bath is one of the most important time-tested water treatments which induc e s perspiration

in a most natural way. The patient, clad in minimum loin clo t h or underwear, is made to sit on a stool inside a specially designed ca b inet. Before entering the cabinet, the patient sho u ld drink

one or two glasses o f cold water and protect the h ead with a cold towel. T he duration of the steam bath is generally 10 to 20 minutes or until perspiration takes pl a ce. A cold sh o wer should

be taken immediately after the bath.

Very weak p atients, pre g nant wome n , cardiac pa t ients and t h ose sufferi n g from high blood pressure s h ould avoid this bath. If t he patient f e els giddy or uneasy during the ste a m bath, he

or

she should be immedia t ely taken out and given a glass of cold water and the face washed with cold water.

Tip 23: Avoid medications for sleeplessness.

Sleeping pills are no r e medy for sleeplessness. They are habit forming and become less effective when taken c o ntinuously. They lower the I.Q., dull the brain a n d can prove fatal if taken in excess or before or after alcohol. The side-ef f ects of sle e ping pills include indig e stion, skin rashes, lo w ered resist a nce to infec t ion, circ u la t ory and respiratory problems, poor appetite,

High blood pressure, kidney and liver problems and mental confusion.

To overcome the probl em , one should adhere to a regular sl e eping sche d ule, going to bed at a fixed time each night a n d getting up at a fixed time each m o rning. Early to bed and e arly to rise

is a good rule. Two hours of sleep b efore midnight are more beneficial t h an four after. It is sheer folly for stu d ents, at examination times, to keep awake until long after midnight, drinking one cup of tea a f ter another, as that is o n ly apt to cause blackness and inabili t y to concentrate in the examin a tion hall.
