diarrhoea,

It should be preferably used in i

s original form and before dinner. About 60 grams
of the fruit will suf

ice for
an adult.
Pears are regarded the next best fruit beneficial in the treatment of constipation. Pati

m chronic constipation

r adopt an

clusive diet of this fruit
or its juice
for few days, but in ordi
n
ary cases a
medium-sized pear tak

n after dinn

r or with breakfast will have the desired eff

ct. The same is true of

uava which, when eaten with seeds,
gives roughage to the diet and helps in the normal ev

c
uation of t

e bowels.
Grapes have also proved highly beneficial
in overcoming constipation. T

e combination of the properties of
the cell

lose, sugar and organic acid in grapes
make them
a laxative food. Their field of ac

n is not limited to cleari

g the bowels only. They also tone

p the stomach and intestin
e
s
a
nd relieve the most chronic constipa
t
ion. One should take at
least 350 g

ams of grapes daily to achieve the desired
r
esults. Wh

n fresh gra

es are not

ailable, raisins
soaked in

ater can be
used. Raisi

s should be
soaked in a
tumbler of drinking wat

r for 24 to
48 hours.

should be eaten early in the morning. The water in which raisins
are soaked
