Tip 150. Fasting for Gout

 

For an acu t e attack of g out, there is no better remedy than a fast.

 

The patient should und e rtake a fast f or five to seven days on orange juice and water.

Sometimes t he condition may worsen in the early stages of f asting when uric acid, dissolved by juices, is th r own into the bloodstre a m for elimination. This u s ually clears up if fasting is

continued. I n severe cases, it is advisable to u n dertake a s e ries of short fasts for thr e e days or

so rather t h an one long fast. A warm water enema should be used daily d uring the p e riod of fasting to cleanse the b owels.

 

After the acute sympt o ms of gout have subsid e d, the patie n t may adopt an all-fruit diet for a further three or four days. In this regimen, he should have three meals a day of juicy fruits such

as grapes, a pples, pears, peaches, o ranges and pineapple. A fter the all-f r uit diet, the patient may gradua l ly embark u pon the foll o wing diet:

 

* Breakfast: Fruits such as oranges, apples, fi g s , apricot, mangoes, whole wheat bread or dalia and milk or butter-milk.

* Lunch: Steamed vege t ables s u ch as lettuce, b eets, celery, water-cress, turnips, s q uash, carrots, tomatoes, cab b age and po t atoes, cha p attis of whole wheat flour, cottage c h eese and butter-milk.

* Dinner: Sprouts such a s alfalfa and mung beans, a good-sized salad of raw veget a bles such as carrots, cabbage, and tomatoes, and also whole wheat bread and butt e r.

 

 

 

Tip 151. Fasting for Kidn e y Dise a se Treatment

 

To treat kid n ey disease, consider the fast.

 

The safest t r eatment for acute nephritis is f asting. By means of the fast, t h e toxins and systemic impurities res p onsible for setting up of t he inflamm a tory kidney conditions a re removed r a pidly.


The patient should reso r t to juice f a sting for seven to ten days until the a c ute symptoms subside.

 

Mostly veg e table juic e s such as car r ot, celery and cucumber should be u s ed during t his period.

A warm wa t er enema should be tak e n each day while fastin g , to cleanse the bowels of the toxic matter being thrown off by the self-clea n si n g process r e sulting from the fast.

 

After the juice fast, the p atient may a dopt an all-f r uit diet for f o ur to five days. Juicy fruits such

as apples, g rapes, ora n ges, pears, peaches a n d pineappl e s should be taken during this period

at five-hourly intervals. After the all - fruit diet, the patient may adopt fruits and milk di e t. In this regimen, milk, preferably raw goat's milk, may b e added to t he fruit diet f or further s e ven days.
