Tip 148. Fasting Cures for Bronc h itis

 

In acute cases of bronc h itis, the pa t ient should f ast on oran g e juice and water until t he acute sympt o ms subside. The procedure is to take the juice of an o r ange in a glass of warm water every t wo hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

 

Thereafter, the patient should adopt an all-fruit diet for two or three days. In case of c h ronic bronchitis, t he patient can begin wi t h an all- fruit diet for five to seven days, taking e ach day three meals of fresh juicy fruits.

 

After the all - fruit diet, the patient sh o uld follow a well-balanc e d diet of se e ds, nuts and grains, vegetables and fruits. F or drinks, u n sweetened lemon water or cold or h o t plain water may betaken. T h e patient s h ould avoid meats, sugar, tea, coffe e , condiments, pickles, r e fined and processed f oods, soft-d r inks, c a ndi e s , ice-cream and produc t s made from sugar and white

flour.

 

 

 

Tip 149. Fasting for Gallstones

 

Even the nature cure c a nnot spare t he need for surgery on the gallblad d er if good diet is neglected.

 

Surgery becomes necessary if the gall-stones are very large or in cas e s in which they have

been prese n t for long. S maller gall-stones can, h owever, cleared through nature cu r e methods. Diet is the b asic factor in the treatment of gall bladder disor d ers. In cas e s of acute g all-bladder inflammation, the patie n t should fast for two or three days, until the acute condition cl e ars.

 

Nothing but water should be taken d uring the fast. After the fast, the patient should t ake carrot,


beet, grape f ruit, lemon and grape juice for a few days. Ensure that the diet contains an adequate amount of lacto-vegetarian, consisting of raw and cooked vegetables, vegetable juices, a nd a moderate amount of fruit and see d s. Yoghurt, cottage ch e ese and a t a blespoon

of olive oil t wice a day should also b e taken. Oil serves as a stimulant for the production of bile and lipase, t he fat diges t ing enzymes. All meats, eggs, animal fats and p rocessed a n d

denatured fats as well a s fried foods should be av oided. The diet should also exclude refined carbohydrates, especially sugar, sugar products, alcohol, soft drinks, cakes, puddin g s, ice- cream, coffee and citrus fruits.

 

The patient should eat small meals at frequent intervals, rather than three large meals. The following is t he suggest e d menu for those suffering from gall-bladder dis o rders:

 

* On rising: A glass of w arm water mixed with lemon juice a nd honey or fresh fruit j u ice,

* Breakfast: Fresh fruit, one or two slices of whole meal toast and a cup o f skimmed powder milk.

* Mid morn i ng: Fresh f r uit juice.

* Lunch: Vegetable so u p, a large s a lad consisti n g of vegetables in s e as o n with dressing of lemon or v e getable oil. Fresh fruit f or dessert, if desired.

* Dinner: Vegetable oil, one or two lightly coo k e d vegetables, baked po t ato, brown rice or whole wheat chapatti a n d a glass of buttermilk.
