, the patient
should be

fruit diet
for three or four days. He should h

rs, peaches,
oranges, pineapple, melon or any other juicy fruit in season.
Bananas, dried or tin

tened lemon water or plain water either hot or
cold may be taken. If l

sing such weight on the
all-fruit diet,
those alrea

y under weight may
add a glass
of milk to e

ch fruit meal.
After the all

fruit diet, the patient sh

uld adopt a

ruit and milk diet. For this diet, the meals are exactly the same as the all-fruit diet,
but with milk added to e
a
ch fruit meal. The patient
may begin with a litre of milk
the first day and increase by quarter litre daily
u
p to two to two and a
half litres
according to
h
ow the milk agrees. The milk should
be fresh and unboiled,
b
ut may be slightly warmed if desired. It should be sipped very slowly.

Certain water treatments are helpful in cas

s of
tuberculosis. The patien
t
's vital resis
t
ance can
be built up

y a carefully planned gr

duated cold
bath routine
twice a day. The intensi

y of the
cold applica

ions should
be gradually increased
t
o achieve satisfactory
r
esults.
However, c
a
re must be taken to ke
e
p the patient
from catching a chill. A short hot f
o
mentation with alterna
t
e short cold
application
t
o the chest
and back,
a
nd in the st

ach region or a
neutral immersion bath
(
water temp
e
rature 98 to 100º F) for an hour just

efore retiri

g at night

ficial.
Tip 122. Yoga for TB
Certain yogic practic

s
are beneficial in the tre

t
m
ent of tuberculosis in its early sta

es. These include as

nas like vip

ritakarani, sarvangasana and shavasana and jalneti kriya. Every
patient with
tuberculosis can practice shavasana.
