Tip 120. Nature Cure Methodolo g y for Tuberculosis

 

Tuberculosis is no lon g er consider e d incurable if it is t a ckled in the early stages. An a ll round scheme of dietetic and vitality buildi n g programme along nat u ral lines is t h e only met h od to overcome t h e disease. A s a first ste p , the patient should be p ut on an exclusive fresh fruit diet

for three or four days. He should h a ve three m e als a day of fresh, juicy f ruits, s u ch a s apples, grapes, pe a rs, peaches, oranges, pineapple, melon or any other juicy fruit in season. Bananas, dried or tin n ed fruits sh o uld not be t a ken. For drinks, unswe e tened lemon water or plain water either hot or cold may be taken. If l o sing such weight on the all-fruit diet, those alrea d y under weight may add a glass of milk to e a ch fruit meal.

 

After the all - fruit diet, the patient sh o uld adopt a f ruit and milk diet. For this diet, the meals are exactly the same as the all-fruit diet, but with milk added to e a ch fruit meal. The patient may begin with a litre of milk the first day and increase by quarter litre daily u p to two to two and a

half litres according to h ow the milk agrees. The milk should be fresh and unboiled, b ut may be slightly warmed if desired. It should be sipped very slowly. T he fruit and milk diet sh o uld be continued f o r four to six weeks. The r eafter, the f ollowing die t ary m a y be adopted:

 

* Breakfast: Fresh fruits, as obtainable, and milk. Prunes or other dried fr u its may also be taken, if desired.

* Lunch: Steamed vege t ables as a v ailable, one or two whole wheat chapattis and a glass of

* buttermilk.

* Dinner: A bowl of raw salad of s u i t able vegetables with whole wheat bread and but t er. Stewed fruit or cooked a pple may be taken for d e ssert.

* At bed time: A glass of milk.

 

 

 

Tip 121. Water Thera p y for TB

 

Certain water treatments are helpful in cas e s of tuberculosis. The patien t 's vital resis t ance can

be built up b y a carefully planned gr a duated cold bath routine twice a day. The intensi t y of the


cold applica t ions should be gradually increased t o achieve satisfactory r esults.

 

However, c a re must be taken to ke e p the patient from catching a chill. A short hot f o mentation with alterna t e short cold application t o the chest and back, a nd in the st om ach region or a

neutral immersion bath ( water temp e rature 98 to 100º F) for an hour just b efore retiri n g at night

is also b en e ficial.

 

 

 

Tip 122. Yoga for TB

Certain yogic practic e s are beneficial in the tre a t m ent of tuberculosis in its early sta g es. These include as a nas like vip a ritakarani, sarvangasana and shavasana and jalneti kriya. Every

patient with tuberculosis can practice shavasana.

 

Lie flat on your back, f e et comfortably part, arms and hands extended about six inch e s from the body, palms upwards and fingers half- f olded. Close your eyes. Begin by conscio u sly and gradually relaxing every part a n d each muscle of the b o dy; feet, legs, calves, kne e s, thighs, a b domen, hips, back, han d s, arms, ch e s t, shoulde r s, neck, he a d and face. Relax yourself completely feeling as if your whole body is lifel e ss. Now concentrate your mind o n breathing rhythmically as slowly and effortlessly as possible. This creat e s a state of complete relaxation.

 

Remain motionless in th i s positi o n, r elinquis h ing all respons i biliti e s and worries for 10 to 15

minutes. Discontinue the exercise when your legs grow numb.
