Fruit and vegetable juices may be d ivided into six main typ e s. These are

 

·      Juices from sweet fruits such as pr u nes and gr a pes.

·      Juices from sub-acid fruits like a pp l e, plum, pear, peach, apricot and cher ry ,

·      Juices from acid fruits like orange, l e mon, grapefruit, strawb e rry and pineapple.

·      Juices from vegetable fruits, namely, tomato and cucumber.

·      Juices from green leafy vegetables like cabbage, celery, lett u ce, spin a c h, parsley and watercress.

·      Juices from root vegetables like bee t root, carrot, onion, pota t o and radis h .

 

There are rules for s u ccessful u s e o f the six types of juices. They are:

 

·      Juices from sweet fruits may be combined with j u ices of sub - acid fruits, b ut not with those of acid fruits, vegetable fruits or vegetables.


·      Juices from sub-acid fruits may be combined w i th juices of sweet fruits, or acid frui ts , but not with other juic e s .

·      Juices from acid fruits may be combined with those of sub-acid fruits or v egetable fruits, but not with other juic e s .

·      Juices from vegetable fruits may be combined with those of a c id fruits or of green lea f y vegetables, but not with other juic e s .

·      Juices from green leafy vegetables may be combined with t hose of vegetable fruits or

of the root vegetable, b u t not with o t her juices.

·     Juices from root vegetables may be combined with those of g reen leafy vegetables, b ut no t with other juices.

 

A proper selection of j u ices in treati n g a particul a r ailment is very essential. Thus, for instance, juices of carro t , cucumber, cabbage a n d other vegetables are very valuable in asthma, arthritis and skin disease, b u t juices of o r ange and mosambi aggravate their sympt o ms by increasing the amount of mucus.

 

 

 

Tip 100. Relax the e y es to relieve glaucoma.

 

The glauc om a patient should under t ake various methods of relaxing and strengtheni n g the

eyes. He should avoid emotional stress and c u ltivate a tranquil, restful li f e style. He should also avoid prolonged straini n g of the eyes such a s occurs during excessive TV or movie watching

and excessive reading. The use of sun glass e s should be avoided.

 

Equally im p ortant is the avoidance of stimu l ants, tea, coffee, and caffein a ted soft dri n ks.

 

 

 

Tip 101. To look y oun g , take lecithin.

 

In some cases, the cosmetic effect of lecithin d oes as much for the mental outlook of persons

as it does f o r their physical well-bei n g. It has be e n found to eliminate the yellow or ye l low- brown plaques on the skin or around the eyes caused by fatty deposits. I t is a natural

tranquill i ser which is be n eficial in ne r vous exha u stion. It c a n produce gr e at alertness in elderly people.

 

Some studies have indicated that lecithin incre a ses the gamma globulin in the blood. This helps fight infection. It p rovides an increased immunity against pneumonia. It has also been found to lower blood pr e ssure in s o me people. In combination with vitamin E, it has proved helpful in l o wering the requirements of insulin in diabetics. It has also pr ov ed valuable in the treatment of certain skin ailments, i n cluding ac n e, eczema and psoriasis.
