Tip 76. Treat acne from the inside out.

 

For treatment of acne, e schew topical medicaments.

 

The treatment of acne b y the administration of s a lve or ointment does not serve any purpose. They only suppress the action of the sebaceous glands temporarily. In nature cure, t h e main


emphasis is on diet and certain wat e r applicatio n s. To begin with the patient should r esort to all

-fruit diet for about a week. In this r e gimen, there should be t hree meals a day, consisting of fresh juicy f r uits, s u ch as apples, pe a rs, grapes, g rapefruit, pi n eapple and peaches. Ci t rus

fruits, bana n as, dried, s t ewed or tinned fruits sh o uld not be t a ken. Unsweetened lemon or plain water, either hot or cold, should be d r unk and no t hing else. D uring this p e riod, warm-water

enema should be taken daily to cle a nse the bowels and all o ther measures adopted t o eradicate c o nstipation.

 

After a week of all fruit di et, the pati e nt can grad u ally adopt a well-balanc e d diet. Emphasis should be o n raw foods, especially fresh fruits a n d vegetables, sprouted seeds, raw nuts and

whole grain cereals, e s p ecially millet and brown rice. Further shorter per i ods on the a ll-fruits for three days, or so may b e necessary at a monthly interval until the con d ition of the skin

improves.

Strict attention to diet is essential for recovery. Starchy, protein and fatty foods, should be restricted. M eats, sugar, strong tea o r coffee, co n diments, pickles, refi n ed and processed foods

should all b e avoided, as also soft d rinks, ca n dies, ice cre a m and products made with sugar

and white flour.

 

 

 

Tip 77. Treat hardening of the arteries (arteriosclerosis) w ith fresh air and w a r m bath.

 

The patient should und e rtake plenty of outdoor ex ercise and eliminate all mental stress and worries. Ev e n lying in t h e sun motionless in the early morni n g or just be f ore dusk may be helpful.

 

Prolonged neutral immersion baths a t bed time on alternate d ays is beneficial. This b a th

is administ e red in a bath tub which should be pr o perly fitted with hot and cold water connection.

 

The bath-tub should be fitted with water at a t e mperature ranging from 92º to 98º F and the patient sho u ld lie in it for an hour or so. The he a d should be kept cold wi t h a cold c o mpress.

 

 

 

Tip 78. Treat bronchitis with moist heat.

 

In addition t o diet, treat bronchitis with a hot poultice.

 

A simple hot poultice of linseed should be applied over the front and back of the chest. Itwill greatly relieve pain. Poultices act by diluting the vessels of the surface and thereby reducing the blood pressure. The heat of the poultice acts as a cardiac stimulant. A poultice should be applied neatly and carefully and should be often renewed, so that it does not hamper respiration.

 

Turpentine may be rub b ed over the chest with f o mentation for the same object.
